Sewing machine service
We can service any type of overlock or lock stitch sewing machine. Basically, if it has thread on the top and a bobbin, we can service it, or if it is a serger, lock stitch, or over lock machine we can service it. All these types of machines run on the same basic mechanical principles, and require the same necessary cleaning, lubrication and adjusting at regular intervals to keep them running at high efficiency. It doesn’t matter if it has electronics or not, the machinery still needs maintainence. Provided you keep the machinery working properly and the electronics are not disrupted by a surge from power fluctuations, even these high end electronic machines will not need repair if the mechanisms are kept pristine. Many of the manufacturers of these electronic machines will have to be repaired by a dealer at a much higher cost if not properly serviced. These “certified dealers” are given access to electronic diagnostic equipment that many other service technicians do not have access to without buying into a certification and dealership. So it is always important to keep your machines serviced regularly to avoid high priced repairs that can take weeks or months waiting on parts.
Basic service of mechanical sewing machines that can be picked up and brought back to the shop for service is $75. If the machine includes any electronics the service fee is $95. Robotic quilting machines and multi-thread embroidery machines services start at $105. Services include a complete disassembly, removal of debris and old lubricants, thorough cleaning and inspecting of the entire machine, lubrication with high quality, synthetic lubricants safe for all machines, replacement of appropriate parts, tension adjustments, deburring, reassembly, testing, and cover to cover wipe down. If any repairs or replacement parts need to be done, you will be notified before that work is completed. If you choose not to get a repair, your machine will finish getting its thorough service and cleaning, and you will only be charged for the service provided. If agree to repairs that are needed, you will be charged for the total cost of parts, and $20 per hour (in 30 minute increments) for the time it takes for the repair. If you know your machine needs a repair in advance of the service, be sure to let me know! It takes less time and costs you less money for me to do the repairs while the machine is already on the bench! If you want me to come out and do a service call, I charge $25 for any service call within 30 miles of the 35058 zip code. I will also pick up machines at local quilt guild meetings during their regularly scheduled meetings, and return them to the next scheduled meeting at no charge. At my discretion, I may provide a loaner machine depending on the circumstances.
Scissors and Shears
I am currently in detailed training for scissor and shear sharpening. As soon as I have finished the training, I will be posting the pricing structure here. I will be traveling to local shops to pick up shears, scissors and clippers to service and sharpen, and return them. I will provide each stylist with a bag that they can keep. They simply place their items in the bag to be serviced. When I return the bag, it will have the serviced and sharpened items and a detailed invoice of the charges such as sharpening, service of clippers, replacement of clipper blades, or deburring of blades. Since different metals require different sharpening techniques, I will have more details on the prices when I finish my sharpening training. Hopefully, this service will be available before the holiday season of 2023. I’m really excited about offering stylists the opportunity to leave their equipment for me on their day off and have them sharp and ready to work when you come back on your next working day!
Clippers and Shears
This is another future service that I am really excited about providing for veterinary professionals, groomers and shearers. Again, I will be offering a pick up and drop off, so you just place your items in a bag and I come get them. After they have been serviced, I return them to your office with an invoice for the services I provided. This will allow you to continue to care for the animals, and let me care for your equipment. I’m hoping to get this service launched by the end of 2023. At that time I will be listing all of my pricing details.
